You should be very proud of your children!  They do such a fantastic job working together!!  During free choice time this morning, the friends successfully navigated all of their conflicts independently and in a positive way.  Great job Mrs. Douglas' class!!

We love playing outside together!

During morning meeting we learned about our stocking word of the day- tree!  We noticed that all of the letters in the word were lower case letters.  We will continue to learn different Christmas words each day and add them to our word wall for the friends to incorporate into their vocabulary and practice writing.

During small group time we continued to work on our Advent wreaths!

We used the pattern blocks to make various Christmas designs.  This helps the children strengthen their spatial relationship skills. "UChicago scholars have shown that puzzle play is connected to improved spatial understanding, such as geometry. A new study is the first to connect robust spatial learning with better comprehension of other aspects of mathematics, such as arithmetic." (Harms, 2012, p. 1)

We also worked on identifying upper and lower case letters as well as identifying the sound the letters make with a BINGO game.  Just as every child is created with unique gifts and talents, success is also unique to the individual child.  Success in this activity for some children is identifying upper case letters.  Success in this activity for some children is identifying upper case letters and lower case letters. Success in this activity for some children is identifying upper case letters, lower case letters, and the letter sounds.  We celebrate all success in preschool, and work to challenge the children in a developmentally appropriate way.

During second free choice time, the children once again worked together to resolve their conflicts.  They really do a great job of showing God's love to each other!

During Jesus time, we read the story of Jesus' birth.  Jesus wasn't born in a hospital like you might imagine.  He was born in a barn with animals!  That shows us how much He loves us!  He showed His love for us when He died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins!  We talked about how some people think that Christmas is all about presents, Santa, cookies, snow, etc.  Those are all fun parts of Christmas, but the BEST part of Christmas is celebrating Jesus' birth!
