We will have our classroom Christmas parties Tuesday and Wednesday (December 16th and 17th) from 9:30-10:30. If you are able to to come and help either of these days, we would love to have you!
Also Sunday, December 14th at 4:00 is our preschool Christmas service. Please bring your child to the church basement at 3:45. You might want to arrive sooner to find a seat. However, please do not bring your child to the church basement until 3:45. We look forward to celebrating Jesus' birth together!!! If you have any questions, please let me know!!
Our friends really enjoy dressing up and acting out the story of Jesus' birth. This is a great way to make the Christmas story come alive for the children!
As the children progress as writers, we continue to scaffold their skills and abilities. Success for some children is writing their full name. Success for some children is forming all of the letters in their name correctly. Success for some children is holding the pencil correctly. Success for some children is writing lower case letters. As you know, we celebrate each child's individual success!
Free choice time allows for individual exploration and inquiry. Exploration and inquiry help to foster live long learning!
We went up to the chapel this morning to practice our song for the Christmas program on Sunday!
After we practiced, we had time to run and play outside! (This part of the parking lot is intended for students to run and play during the school day. It is blocked off so that cars are unable to enter at any point.)
We played a fun game called Mr. Fox Mr. Fox. This game not only promotes large motor development, but it also helps one to one correspondence and counting.
We had chapel in the commons today!
Mrs. Hohener talked to us about her favorite parts of Christmas. We learned that presents are a fun part of Christmas, but the BEST gift was Jesus' birth. He was born so that He could die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!
During small group time, we practiced sorting be various properties. Sorting is a foundational math skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives!
We also worked together to retell the story of Jesus' birth! We drew some of the people and animals in the story to make our own nativity scene in our classroom! Story re-tell promotes language development!
There are no pictures of the third center because we don't want to spoil the Christmas surprise! You will find out on Christmas! :)
Our stocking word of the day was gift! The children enjoy guessing what the word is by using the context clues (picture). This promotes foundational literacy skills!
During second free choice time, the children had the choice to help paint a background for our collaborative nativity. (Look for our nativity hanging in the hallway tomorrow! :) )
We also continued to act out the Christmas story!
Some of the friends built ice castles!
Other friends made presents for friends and family.
We then went back outside to run and play! However, we left the iPod inside, so we were unable to get pictures of our fun outside.
