It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We worked together to set up our Christmas tree today!

The friends helped decorate the tree too!

Of course we had to look at our tree with the lights out.  :)

The tree might not look like it belongs in a department store, but it reflects the hard work of the children.  This allows the children to take pride in and ownership of their work.  It allows children to build confidence as well! Who knew setting up a Christmas tree could provide so many learning opportunities?!  That is the beauty of early childhood education!  Every experience can be a learning experience.

Some of the friends then made ornaments and decorations for our tree!

Hunter, Isaac, and Bryson worked together in the blocks all morning.  They resolved their conflicts independently, shared, and showed God's love!

We had a lot of fun running and playing outside!  :)  Just a reminder we will go outside as long as the "feels like" temperature is above ten degrees.  :)

We had a lot of fun having a special free choice in Mrs. Helmkamp's classroom!

During small group time, we practiced matching upper and lower case letters with a SMARTboard game!

We also started/continued working on our own Advent wreaths!

We practiced ordering biggest to smallest.  Once we ordered biggest to smallest, we used the paper to make a Christmas tree! The friends who finished their tree yesterday used the dice to roll and see how many ornaments to draw on their tree.  This helps the children practice quantifying, counting, one to one correspondence, and pencil grip.

We voted to play large motor games inside today!  We played a fun game called Dead Cow, Live Cow, and Sleepy Cow.  (See if your child remembers how to play.  It is a fun game!) We also played Simon says and danced to some SMARTboard songs.

During Jesus time, we learned about the Advent wreath!  We learned that Advent is a season of waiting and preparation.  We read the story of Jesus birth, and learned that Jesus was born to be our Savior!  When he died on the cross and rose again, He paid the price for all of our sins.  Because of His death and resurrection, we are able to live eternally with Him in heaven!
