We will have our classroom Christmas parties Tuesday and Wednesday (December 16th and 17th) from 9:30-10:30.  If you are able to to come and help either of these days, we would love to have you!
Also Sunday, December 14th at 4:00 is our preschool Christmas service.  Please bring your child to the church basement at 3:45.  You might want to arrive sooner to find a seat.  However, please do not bring your child to the church basement until 3:45.  We look forward to celebrating Jesus' birth together!!!    If you have any questions, please let me know!!

Some friends enjoyed writing in their journals this morning!  As you know, writing success is different for every child.  We strive to help each child meet his/her individual success and work to scaffold their writing to the next level of success.

Many of the friends worked together in the blocks and cars too.  They are learning social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!

We headed up to the chapel to practice our song for the Christmas Program on Sunday this morning!

After we practiced, we had time to run and play outside!  (This part of the parking lot is intended for students to run and play during the school day.  It is blocked off so that cars are unable to enter at any point.) We played a fun game called Moses Moses.  This game not only promotes large motor development, but it is really fun and silly too!

During morning meeting, we read a story called the Christmas star.  We remember that Santa, cookies, candy, and presents are all fun parts of Christmas, but the whole reason that we celebrate Christmas is because Jesus, our Savior, was born!

During small group time, the friends each painted a plate which we will use to make a collaborative Christmas tree!

We also refined our writing skills with dry erase markers.  The friends practiced tracing lines and writing letters.

We also played a fun game on the SMARTboard.  Each friend picked a hidden number, and then jumped that many times. This helps to develop number recognition, counting, and one to one correspondence!

We also played a count and clip game!  The friends counted how many items were on the page, and then clipped the number.  This game helps strengthen fine motor skills, develop counting, one to one correspondence, and number recognition.

Finally, the friends predicted what would happen to candy canes left in water, and I wrote their predictions down. They worked to break the candy canes into small pieces.  We will see what happens to the candy canes at the end of the day!

During second free choice time, many friends chose to make presents for their friends and family.  This is a great way to engage in creative thinking!

We also acted out the story of Jesus' birth!  Dramatic play increases children's emotional and social development.  It is important for children to have ample opportunity to engage in dramatic play.  Acting out the story of Jesus' birth helps the children to make sense of the story of Christmas, and it also helps the story come alive for the children.

Look how intricate our block structures are becoming!!

During Jesus time today, we used the SMARTboard to help retell the story of the angels telling the shepherds of Jesus' birth!  Glory to God!  The Savior has been born!
