It's a great day to be a preschooler!
If you would like to bring a re-fillable water bottle for your child to have at school, please do so. We want to be sure that the children are well hydrated, especially in this hot weather. Please be sure to write your child's name on the water bottle. The children will have access to these water bottles throughout the day.
Today we practiced writing our names using our new name tags!
Some of the friends used teamwork to create an obstacle course with the blocks! They problem solved together to make the best obstacle course possible. They also worked together to resolve their conflicts! Problem solving and conflict resolution are important social skills that will benefit the children throughout their lives!
We loved playing with the Wiki Sticks. These sticks help us strengthen our fine motor skills and allow us a chance to express creativity!
We continued to strengthen our friendships with each other! Learning to make and maintain friendships is a social skill that will, again, benefit the children throughout their lives!
Some of the friends created a drum set with various classroom items! So creative! As I have said many times, when children engage in creative thinking they are engaging in a higher level thinking skill which promotes cognitive development.
Each day at preschool we review our daily schedule together. Learning the daily schedule is a foundation for learning time. Furthermore, learning the daily schedule creates a predictable, safe environment in which the children are able to make choices and take risks which can lead to further learning.
We read a story about Douglas, a bear who needed a hug!
This story led to a discussion on what it means to be a friend. We brainstormed together what a friend is.
We then practiced being a friend to each other as we split into pairs and shared a paper as we painted!
During Jesus time, our friend Zippy the puppet told us about a house that his dad just finished building. We learned that God made a home for us-the world! We learned that He just had to speak the words for it to be made because our God is powerful! We sang a song to remind us that God made the world for us!
