Looking Ahead:
  • Wednesday, May 22nd -LAST DAY OF PRESCHOOL
  • Thursday, May 23rd -Preschool Popsicles and Playground event, 9-11 a.m. at Laurel Park.  (We will not  have Preschool that day.)
  • Friday, May 24th- NO SCHOOL-SUMMER BREAK BEGINS
Check out some of the highlights from our day!

We reviewed the story of Noah's Ark.  We sang "Rise and Shine!" to help us remember us what happened on the ark.  We discussed the rainbow and how it always reminds us that God keeps His promises!

We were sad because it was cold and rainy today, but we were able to do some of our planned centers today!  Yay!

The children rolled a number and stamped that many flowers on their chart.   This activity allows the children to practice number recognition, counting, and one to one correspondence.

We also played a fun collaborative game that helped us practice social skills such as working together and taking turns as well as number recognition!  The children each turned over a card and called out the number written on the card.  Then, everyone colored in the flower that was labeled with the same number.

The children worked together in the Post Office as well today!  As the children explore the words and letters found in the Post Office, they are developing foundational reading and writing skills!

We continued to explore, play, and learn in the Doctor Office in our classroom.  It is important for children to have ample time for imaginary play because research provides more and more evidence of the positive effects that well-developed play has on social skills, emerging mathematical abilities, mastery of early literacy concepts, and self-regulation.

Because we were unable to go outside, we switched things up and allowed the children to choose to play in our classroom or in Mrs. Smith's room!  This allows the children an opportunity to not only enjoy new activities, but it also provides an opportunity for the children in our class to develop relationships with Mrs. Smith and her class!
