Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a restful and blessed Easter!
We started the day going to the gym! We love running and playing different games together!
Then we headed to chapel where we learned that Jesus is alive! He rose from the dead because He loves us very much!!
When we returned to the classroom and investigated the VCR. We talked about the different shapes we saw in the VCR.
We discussed how to stay safe as we work with the VCR. We decided that we need safety goggles and to use gentle hands when working with the VCR. We talked about how we would use what we learn about the electricity in the VCR to make 'electricity' in our city!
These discussions and explorations help foster what researchers call essential 21st-century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
We practiced counting, sorting, and one to one correspondence as we recognized the number on the bottle, chose a color, and counted out that many beads into the bottle. The children worked in pairs to check each other's counting. Allowing the children the opportunity to work in pairs provides an opportunity to practice cooperation and collaboration-social skills that will benefit the children throughout their lives!
Before we start taking the VCR apart, we decided that we should make a map of what we see on the inside. As the children make the map of the VCR, they are recognizing various shapes and creating a realistic representation of a concrete item.
We observed various artworks done by Piet Mondrian. We noticed that he used many black lines to make squares and rectangles. We also noticed that in the art pieces we observed, he used black, red, blue, and yellow. We created our own Piet Mondrian inspired art pieces today!
