Check out some of the highlights from our day!

We had fun playing with the SMARTboard this morning!  The children are developing their fine motor skills!

As we were playing in the Doctor Office today, I came in as a patient.  I asked the children how I knew that someone was a doctor.
They thought for a minute and said, "Well, we will tell you who the doctors are."
I said, "Well I have to be sure that my baby is safe.  Some doctors wear name tags to tell that they are doctors.  Do the doctors here have name tags?"
One of the children replied, "No, but we can make some with paper!"

Some of the children made a name tag factory for the doctors in the office!  Engaging in children's play and providing an opportunity for children to scaffold new information through play is a great way to help children learn and develop.

During Jesus time, we read a story about malaria.  We discussed how we don't have to worry about malaria here where we live, but children in far away places have to worry about it.  We learned that nets can help the children in far away places stay safe from malaria.  We prayed for the people in far away places where malaria is.  We discussed that we are wearing orange today to help us remember to pray for the people with malaria!

As the children were playing the in doctor office later in the day, Leah  made a mosquito net to protect her baby from malaria.  I reminded the children that we don't have to worry about getting malaria from mosquitos here, but it was so kind of Leah to think of the children in countries far away!

Of course we read a Pete the Cat book!  The children love Pete the Cat!  If you would like to download Pete the Cat songs for free, click the link HERE.  Clink the link on the right side under "DOWNLOAD PETE THE CAT SONGS"

We also practiced counting and number recognition with a Pete the Cat dot to dot.

We made our own Pete the Cat buttons today!  The children worked hard to cut out the very small buttons.  They are developing their fine motor skills!

We each dictated why we love Pete the Cat.  We will send these dictations to Pete the Cat to share how much we love his books and music!  Hopefully, the author will write us back.  The children each signed the letter and prepared it to send to Pete.

We practiced counting and number recognition today too as we counted how many blueberries Pete stepped in and then circled the corresponding number!  As you know, counting and number recognition are foundational math skills!
