Check out some of the highlights from our day!

We worked on sounding out words in the Post Office as we made cards for our family and friends!  The children are developing as readers and writers!

We continued our discussion about how we can tell if someone is a doctor in our doctor office as we are playing.  Before entering the doctor office, many of the children made their own name tags to identify themselves as doctors.

As I was waiting in the "Waiting Room" of our doctor office, some of the children came and told me, "You know that Leah is a doctor because she has a name tag.  She is going to take good care of your baby!"

Engaging in children's play and providing an opportunity for children to scaffold new information through play is a great way to help children learn and develop.

Emily also made a name tag so we can easily tell that she is a doctor too!

Today we focused on our social skills and positive conflict resolution with our friends.  It is that time of year that the children are beginning to lose patience with each other. A large part of learning social skills is learning how to handle these situations.

We did some role playing with the puppets to begin a discussion about how we treat others.  We discussed that it is okay to be angry and frustrated with a friend, but we still have to show God's love no matter how we feel.

We worked through some scenarios together in which the puppets made some bad choices (yelling at friends, pushing friends, and telling friends that they couldn't play).  The children helped identify how each puppet was feeling and helped the puppets think of other ways to handle the situation in a more positive way.  Discussions, such as the one we had today, allow the children to work through various emotions in a non-threatening way and lay the foundation for further social growth and development.

Many of the children created Pete the Cat pictures with buttons and shoes just like in the books!  He is showing a love for the Pete the Cat books; this love of books and reading will help as we continue to develop as readers!

We made a card for the kind people who came and helped make our front entryway garden look beautiful!

We finished some of our jobs from the week too including our Pete the Cat book and our letters to Pete the Cat!

We then took a walk outside to check out the bird's nest in the tree.  One of the eggs hatched yesterday!  The mother bird was sitting on the baby bird and the other eggs, but we were able to see her protecting the eggs and nest!  (A special thank you to Mrs. Mudd who lifted us all up so we could see!!)
