Check out some of the highlights of our day!
We started the day by going to the gym and exercising our large motor skills!
We also practiced writing our names for our class 'address book.' The children will be able to use this book as they write letters to each other in the post office center. This book will allow the children more experience in print and fine motor growth!
We then went to chapel where the middle school student council led chapel for us! We saw a play about Noah and the Ark! We sang "Rise and Shine" to help remember the story of Noah. We learned that God always takes care of us!
When we returned to the classroom, we played rock, paper, number once again. Once the children added their sum of fingers, they used the pointer to find the number that matched their total. This game helps the children to develop foundational math skills such as counting, one to one correspondence, and number recognition.
We learned a new art technique today called pointillism. We practiced using the technique as we painted today!
We enjoyed playing and working together in the Doctor office today too! The children practiced sharing the items in the office; as they practiced sharing, they practiced positive conflict resolution. This is a social skill that will benefit them throughout their lives.
The children are also practicing writing as they check-in at the doctor office. They are practicing reading as they look at each other's names and call the next patient into the doctor office.
We practiced writing letters and words in the post office today. The children were writing letters to moms, dads, and siblings. They are practicing the sounds of the letters as they sound out how to spell the words. They are developing as readers and writers!
