We had another great day of school!

Check out some of the highlights of our day!

We learned about community helpers today!  We discussed various people that help us in the neighborhood.  We sang a song, "Who are the people in the neighborhood?" as we thought of people that help in our community.

We continued to work on our collaborative artwork inspired by Piet Mondrian!

We practiced counting and number recognition with a fun rainy day game!  We are developing foundational math skills that will benefit us throughout our lives!

We also practiced making patterns and sorting today!  Patterning and sorting are both foundational math skills.

We also looked at various pictures to find the one that was different.  This activity will help the children develop visual discrimination skills.  Visual discrimination skills are important pre-reading skills.

We worked together to take down preschool city so we could have room for our doctor's office.  The children practiced working together and positive conflict resolution as we worked to take down preschool city.  Positive conflict resolution is a social skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives.

We then worked on sounding out words to make signs for the Doctor Office and the Post Office.

We worked together to brainstorm ideas of how to set up our doctor office and post office.  As the children think through their ideas and try them out, they are learning valuable critical thinking skills.  For example, one child said,
"Well, we can't have the check-in table here because no one would see the sign!"
