Check out some of the highlights of our day!

We had fun exploring letters and creating words!  The children are developing as readers and writers.

During morning meeting, we read a story about the Post Office!  We discussed the roles of postal workers and whether the mailman who brings us our mail walks or drives to our house!

During Jesus time today, we reviewed the story of Thomas doubting that Jesus had risen from the dead.  We discussed how Jesus is alive!  We sang the song, "God is Not Dead" to help us remember that Jesus is alive!

We learned a new art technique today called pointillism.  We practiced using the technique as we painted today!

We practiced writing letters and words in the post office today.  The children were writing letters to moms, dads, and siblings.  They are practicing the sounds of the letters as they sound out how to spell the words.  They are developing as readers and writers!

We enjoyed playing and working together in the Doctor office today too!  The children practiced sharing the items in the office; as they practiced sharing, they practiced positive conflict resolution.  This is a social skill that will benefit them throughout their lives.

The children are also practicing writing as they check-in at the doctor office.  They are practicing reading as they look at each other's names and call the next patient into the doctor office.

We worked collaboratively in the block center.  The blocks provide an opportunity for the children to not only work together, but to also experiment with spatial relationships.  Learning about spatial relationships boosts understanding of numbers!

I played some literacy games with the children today!  We practiced rhyming, positional words, letter and sound matches, and chopping and blending words together.  All of these skills are foundational reading skills!
