Check out some of the highlights from our day!

We reviewed the alphabet by saying, "A-A-Apple" and so on.  This allows the children to associate letters with a concrete object.  This will help the children remember the letter and it's sound.  They are developing as readers!

During Jesus time, we reviewed the story of Thomas who doubted that Jesus is alive.  We talked about how we know that Jesus is alive, and we can share that good news with others!  We each listed one person who we could tell that Jesus is alive.  We also sang the song, "God is Not Dead" to help us remember that Jesus is ALIVE!  Praise God!

We practiced counting, one to one correspondence, and number recognition as we worked on a class Pete the Cat book.  The children each drew a number of buttons on Pete the Cat.  Then, the children counted the buttons they drew and wrote the number on the line.  All of these skills are foundational math skills!  We will bind all of our pictures together to make a class book.

We also graphed which color shoe in the Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes book is our favorite. Graphs help young children build mathematical reasoning!

We talked about stepping in different things like Pete does in the book Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes. We traced, cut out, and colored our own shoe.  Then, we colored our shoe.  The children decided what they "stepped in" based on the color of their shoe.  For example, one child colored his shoe pink because he stepped in cotton candy!  This activity provides an opportunity for fine motor growth and creativity!
