Happy Week of the Young Child!! During this week, we celebrate the blessing of young children, especially all of the young children here at Zion! As part of the celebration, there will be optional dress-up days this week. These days are listed below:
Friday: Mismatched Day
We have had such a fantastic year. I am so thankful for each of your children, and I am also thankful for your support and love throughout the year! The last day of preschool is Wednesday, May 21.
Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park. Just to clarify, if your child would like to come and play on this day, a parent, grandparent, etc. needs to be in attendance the entire time your child is at the park. Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer!
Now that we have used the pool noodles and sticks for a few days, the friends are more confident with manipulating and creating with them. Today the creations were more elaborate and the children helped each other problem solve.
We discussed a few three-dimensional shapes while exploring in the magna tiles. I created a cube, and I told a friend, "Look at my cube!"
The friend replied, "That's not a cube! That's a square!"
We then explored the differences between the cube and square by touching and observing them.
Sammie took orders this morning!
Bella had fun being silly. :)
Some of the friends created a new game this morning! They used the blocks and ramps to roll cars into the circle! They were giving pointers to each other as they played.
"Hold it high so the car drops in."
"Roll it fast so it pops right in."
Andrew worked hard to write the word SPORTS this morning! Great job Andrew!
During morning meeting, we worked collaboratively to tell a story. Each friend added a part to our story. This activity promotes language development, creativity, and collaboration.
One friend had an idea once we were done with our story. "We should each draw a picture of a popsicle and write a story about it!"
So we decided to do it during small group time!
During small group time we reviewed patterns! The children expanded their knowledge of patters. Rather than patterning only by color, the children chose other attributes for their patterns. For example, front and back, small and big, etc.
We then took our friend's idea and wrote a popsicle story!
Look at Brynne's tracking skills as she reads her story to me!
Hunter and Bryson worked hard to sort the crayons as we cleaned up.
We also worked on a TOP SECRET project for our moms. :)
We had some extra time outside to enjoy the weather today!
During Jesus time, we learned that because of the Holy Spirit, we can shine like lights for Jesus love! We learned that one way we can shine Jesus' love is telling others about Jesus! He loves us so much that He died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins! What better news to share?! :)
