Happy Week of the Young Child!!  During this week, we celebrate the blessing of young children, especially all of the young children here at Zion!  As part of the celebration, there will be optional dress-up days this week.  These days are listed below:

Thursday:  Stripes Day
Friday:  Mismatched Day

We have had such a fantastic year.  I am so thankful for each of your children, and I am also thankful for your support and love throughout the year!  The last day of preschool is Wednesday, May 21.

Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park.  Just to clarify, if your child would like to come and play on this day, a parent, grandparent, etc. needs to be in attendance the entire time your child is at the park.  Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer!

Now that we have used the pool noodles and sticks for a few days, the friends are more confident with manipulating and creating with them.  Today the creations were more elaborate and the children helped each other problem solve.

"Well if you put that noodle there it won't stay unless you poke it with the stick."

They also provide a great exercise!!  :)

We discussed a few three-dimensional shapes while exploring in the magna tiles.  I created a cube, and I told a friend, "Look at my cube!"
The friend replied, "That's not a cube!  That's a square!"
We then explored the differences between the cube and square by touching and observing them.

Megan's mom stopped in to read a book during free choice time!

Another great way to explore three dimensional shapes is in the block center!

Violet and Alma cooked and cleaned in the kitchen this morning!!

It's great to be a Zion Bobcat!! Happy Spirit Day!

We went to chapel this morning, and we helped Mrs. Kuhlmann act out the story of the disciples catching all of the fish because of Jesus' suggestion to put the net on the other side.  Today was also a baptism remembrance.  All of the children who were Baptized in May, June, or July received a special cross.  If you are interested in having your child baptized, we would love to have your child baptized here at Zion!   We thank God for the gift of Baptism and salvation through Jesus' death and resurrection on the cross!

The friends who did not attend the Botanical Garden field trip yesterday were able to attend today!  Before we went to the field trip, we ate our snack in a special place- the church basement!

Here are some pictures from the Botanical Garden visit today!  (Thank you Mrs. Mudd!)

We were also excited to see all of the work on our new school building today!

Before we went outside, we worked on a TOP SECRET project for our moms! :)

The friends who went to the Botanical Garden visit in the church basement yesterday enjoyed a popsicle outside while the friends who were not at school yesterday enjoyed all that the Botanical Gardens brought for us to explore!

We were so excited when the friends returned from the field trip in the church basement!  They ate their popsicles too!
