Happy Friday!
Today was the first day signing in using the estimation jar! The estimation jar helps the children to practice counting, one to one correspondence, number recognition, and writing!
The friends were very excited to explore the new manipulatives today! The Geoboards were very popular! Geoboards help children learn about lines and shapes while strengthening their fine motor skills.
We also strengthened our fine motor skills while strengthening letter recognition with lacing letters.
What a beautiful day to play outside!!
During small group time, the children played the shape Go Fish game independently!
This game helps the children practice shape recognition!
We also completed our mosaic snowmen!
We had a lot of fun practicing writing letters in shaving cream! I held up a letter card, and the children identified the letter. We wrote the letter in the shaving cream and practiced the sound of the letter as well.
One of the goals of early childhood education is for children to learn valuable social skills including conflict resolution, cooperation, collaboration, and self-regulation. These skills will benefit the children throughout their lives! Free choice time is a great time to practice these skills!
The children did a great job working together in the blocks today!
More Geobaord exploration
More letter stringing :)
During Jesus time, we did a special Baptism remembrance. (If your child has not been baptized and you would like him/her to be baptized, please contact me. :) ) The children dipped a finger in water, and made the sign of the cross on their friend's head. They reminded their friend that "You are a child of God!" Because of Jesus death and resurrection, we are all children of God!
