Despite the snowy slush, we had a great day in school!

A few reminders:
Grandparents' Day is Thursday, March 7th. You should have received an e-mail with information about Grandparents' Day. You will also receive the information as a hard copy in your child's cubby. Please return the form at the end of the information packet by Friday, March 1st so we know how many to prepare for. Thank you so much!
Friday, March 8th we have early dismissal at 12:00. There is no school lunch program on this day, so please pack you child a sack lunch. Thanks!
Check out what we did in school today!
We had fun creating in the art center! As you well now by now, creative thinking is a higher level thinking skill. Engaging in creative thinking leads to more cognitive development!

We looked a various road safety signs today too. We discussed why we have safety signs on the road, and we learned what a few of the signs mean. As we discuss safety signs, the children are learning about how to practice safe behavior.
We then made our own safety signs for our road rug and for the map we created with masking tape. As they were working, the children discussed where to place the various signs on the road. As the children think through where to place the various signs, they are learning foundational skills for self-regulation. They are thinking through the consequences of their actions and thinking of ways to solve the problem.
We also worked on our auction project today! The children were creative as they painted circles on the wooden blocks! I am excited to see how the final project turns out!
We practiced recognizing letters as we hunted for treasure using a letter map. We had to be sure to follow the correct letter and not become mixed up with the other letters on the map! This activity allows the children to practice recognizing letters, differentiating between two similar letters, visual discrimination, and fine motor skill.
We looked at a map of the world and discussed the different continents. We learned where we live, and we also discussed that there are so many different languages spoken throughout the world, and many different ways of eating lunch! We read a book about how other people around the world eat their lunch!
