Weekly Newsletter October 22-26

We will explore Fall with all of our senses this week!  We will take a Fall walk and discuss the different things we hear, see, touch, and smell.  We will collect leaves on our walk and use them throughout the week to help us learn.  Through this Fall walk, the children are engaging their different senses and learning more about the physical world.  Our senses provide a window into the world around us!
We will use the leaves we collect for a leaf printing.  Through the leaf printing, the children will notice similarities between the leaves and the printed leaf, encouraging visual discrimination development.  Furthermore, the children will be working their fine motor skills.
We will also use the leaves on a graph.  We will make a large graph on the floor out of tape, and graph the leaves we collect.  We will graph the leaves by color and size.  Through this activity, the children are learning one to one correspondance, counting, and classification.  We will also measure the leaves we collect.  We will practice identifying numbers as we measure them.  Measurement is a life long skill!
We will finish our painted pumpkin art work.  Through this activity, the children are expressing their artistic creativity.
We will also make pumpkin play dough this week.  The children will help identifying numbers and measuring.  Furthermore, the children will explore the pumpkin play dough with their senses!
During Jesus time, we will learn the story of David and Goliath.  We will learn that with God all things are possible!
We will have a great week!
