We had a great day in preschool!

Check out what we did today!

We started the day by predicting whether the pumpkin would sink or float.
(The friends who were at school yesterday were sure not to give the answer away. )

It floats!
As the children participate in this activity, they are exchanging scientific ideas and developing scientific reasoning!

We learned that it floats because there is air on the inside.  There is also some goop and seeds!

We had fun scooping the goop and seeds!  We practiced sorting the goop and seeds!

We voted to see how we should carve the pumpkin.  We noticed that the happy face line was a lot longer than the cross line.  As the children vote, they are participating in important classroom decisions. They are also developing foundational math skills as they compare the lines on the graph.

We continued to work on our pumpkin art.  We each paint a piece of paper orange.  From this paper, we will cut out a pumpkin!

We had fun playing in the pumpkin patch.  We enjoyed playing with the money.  We practiced identifying numbers as we exchanged bills while we played!

The Magic House came and showed us how powerful air can be!  It was so much fun!
