We had a great day here in preschool!

On Tuesdays and Thursdays Mrs. Jenny Buchholz is the aide in our classroom.  We are very thankful for Mrs. Buchholz and her help, love, and care!

After signing in, many of the friends explored the Handwriting Without Tears writing boards.

"Look!  I made a C!"
"This long line covers the whole board!"

As children explore the magnetic lines and curves, they are exploring smaller parts of letters. Knowing these parts help children when writing letters.  (To make a S you write a small curve, turn, and another small curve.)  :)

Writing cards was also a favorite choice this morning.  The friends love the heart stickers that look like stamps!

Hunter read his card to Bryson!

We then went to chapel!

(Please forgive me.  I forgot to send out an email informing you of chapel this week.)

In chapel, we learned how to be respectful in God's house.  We also learned special words that we say in God's house!  We learned that we go to chapel to worship God!  God loves us so much that He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!

Back in the classroom, we exercised together!

We also ran a few laps outside before it got too hot.

As part of our morning meeting routine, and one of the classroom jobs, we also review the alphabet.  When we practice the alphabet we are learning the sounds of the letters and practicing letter recognition!  We noticed this morning that we are missing quite a few pictures from our alphabet chart.  We decided to go on a letter hunt during small group time to help finish our alphabet chart!

During small group time, we explored and created with our water color paints.  The children worked their fine motor skills and expressed themselves as they created.

We also brainstormed ways that we can show God's love.  As the children gave ideas, I wrote them down. Then, the children illustrated their idea.  We will post these ideas and illustrations in our classroom to remind us how we can show God's love to our friends throughout the year!

Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

We then went on a letter hunt! Many of the children wanted to practice writing the letters that they saw.  We each had a clip board and a pencil to practice writing the letters that we saw.  This was a great time to engage with the children and talk about letter formation and letter recognition.

"I want to write that E.  Can you help me?"

"I know that's a letter, I just don't know which one."

Back in the classroom, we had more free choice time!

Kiera worked her spatial relationship and problem solving skills as she worked with the pattern blocks.

Riley worked in the art center.

Victoria and Avery made their own imaginary art studio.

Hunter and Bryson built a tower with the magna tiles.

Some of the friends planned a birthday party.

We decided that we needed clowns for the birthday party!  The block center turned into the clown practice room.

Then the clowns performed!
