Happy First Day of School!!  We had a fantastic first day!!

Everyone is getting used to new routines, even teachers and parents!  :)  A few reminders-

If you have not emailed or sent in a picture of your family, please do so as soon as possible.  Thank you!

When you drop off your child, don't forget to mark the lunch and after school care papers hanging above the snack bin.  Thank you!

Please be sure all snacks in the snack bin have your child's name on them.  There is a sharpie marker in the bin for your convenience.  :)  Thank you!

This week we are focusing on learning our school rules and routines.  We are also focusing on learning our friends names; this will help us to create a community to learners!

After we practiced writing our names, we started our day getting to know our classroom and new friends during free choice time.  Free choice time is a great time for the children to explore independently, work together cooperatively, and learn about the world around them!

The friends worked to write their names!

Will and Joey loved strengthening their fine motor skills by tearing the paper off of straws!

Other friends explored in the science center!

Zack problem solved and had fun working in the block center.

Look at our line!  Awesome!!

We had a lot of fun outside!  Playing outside provides an opportunity for the children to build relationships with each other and engage in naturalistic exploring!  Not to mention they are able to run and have fun! :)

Snack time!!

We did a great job putting "bubbles" in our mouths to help us stay quiet in the hallway.  :)

During small group time we played games to help us learn each other's names.  We are working to create a community of learners!

We then had time for more free choice!

One of the many goals of free choice time, especially in the first few weeks of school, is to make friends!  As we develop relationships and bonds with each other, we create a safe environment that enhances learning, exploring, and inquiry.

Riley and Anabelle created together in the art center!

Yum!! As the children cook and play together, they re-enact familiar scenarios.  These scenarios help the children make sense of the world!

Some friends chose to work in the blocks! The block center provides a great opportunity for the children to work together, problem solve, and explore spatial relationships.

Victoria and Will strengthened their spatial relationship and problem solving skills with puzzles and pattern blocks!

During Jesus time, we learned that God loves us!  God made us, and He loves us so much that He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins! We learned that even though we can't see Jesus, He is always with us!

Then it was time for gym!  On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we are able to go to the gym with Miss Kirby's class!  We had a lot of fun running and playing together!

Then we washed our hands and headed to lunch!

We had a great day in school!!
