Happy First Day of School!! We had a fantastic first day!!

This week we are focusing on learning our school rules and routines. We are also focusing on learning our friends names; this will help us to create a community to learners!
We started our day getting to know our classroom and new friends during free choice time. Free choice time is a great time for the children to explore independently, work together cooperatively, and learn about the world around them!
Brynne worked to sort and line the animals.
Sammie and Megan cooked a delicious breakfast to share!
Victoria had fun making silly faces with her friends.
Hunter strengthened his spatial relationship skills and his problem solving skills with the pattern blocks!
Julia, Maddie, Anabelle, and Avery strengthened their fine motor skills as they took the straws out of their wrappers!
Bryson, Megan, and Kiera worked to create with the magna tiles.
Brynne, Samme, and Isaac made a cake! Yumm!

During small group time we played games to help us learn each other's names. We are working to create a community of learners!
We then had time for more free choice!
One of the many goals of free choice time, especially in the first few weeks of school, is to make friends! As we develop relationships and bonds with each other, we create a safe environment that enhances learning, exploring, and inquiry.
Exploring the seashells. We learned that we have to be super careful with the shells! If we are super careful, I told the friends I would bring in giant shells for us!
Julia explored some of the letters!

Some friends chose to work together in the blocks.
Some of the friends played doctor together. They worked to assign various roles to each other. One friend was the shot giver, one was the band aid applier, one was the ambulance driver, and of course one of the friends was sick!
Brynne made pictures to help the sick friends feel better.
Then a lot of friends became sick! Oh no!
Some friends chose to measure using the mangatiles! Megan crouched down so she would be equal with the tower!
During Jesus time, we learned that God loves us! God made us, and He loves us so much that He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!
