Happy Monday! 

Today we are thankful for Alma!  Happy Birthday Alma! 

The friends were excited to explore the sand and rocks in the sensory table today!  

Some friends worked to write letters to create tickets for the puppet theater today!  What a great meaningful writing experience.  When writing is meaningful for children they are not only excited about writing, but the entire experience is actually more effective.  

 Play dough is a great way to express creativity and strengthen fine motor skills! 

Allison explored the letters on the light table.  Recognizing letter and their sounds is a foundational reading skill! 

Like play dough, LEGOs provide an opportunity for fine motor development and creative thinking.

During small group time, I worked with half of the class inside while Ms. Lindsay took half of the class outside.  This allows more one on one time with the children and an opportunity for differentiation.  

Inside we worked on creations for our grandparents and/or special friends.  

During morning meeting we read Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late.  The children used pieces of the story Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late to re-tell the story.  Ask your child at home if they can tell you about the story!  Story re-tell is a foundational reading skill that helps to promote reading comprehension. 

I also worked with the children one on one to complete various assessments.  Assessments are a vital part of education as they show each child's strengths and weaknesses.  Assessments also help teachers adjust curriculum goals to meet each child's needs. 

During Jesus time we read the story of Jesus healing the Ten Lepers.  You can find this story in Luke 17:11-19.  We learned that even though Jesus healed ten men, only one came back to thank Jesus.  We all sometimes forget to thank Jesus for all of His gifts to us.  We learned that Jesus still loves us!  

We started a Praise and Thank board that we will add to throughout the rest of the school year praising and thanking Jesus! Feel free to add your praises and thanks to our board too!
