Happy Friday!

If you are looking for a place to worship over the weekend, you are always welcome here at Zion!  We have services on Saturday evening at 5:00 and Sunday morning at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00.  See you there!

Today the friends were excited to find some new things in the classroom!  Our sensory table is now filled with sand and rocks.  The friends enjoyed feeling the sand in their fingers.  We expanded our vocabulary as we discussed how the sand feels.

Hunter and Blake worked to sweep up the sand on the floor.  They are taking responsibility both for their mess and the classroom!  Great job!

We also played with new play-dough today! Play-dough is a great way to strengthen fine motor skills and encourage creative thinking!

Each morning we practice writing our names for the estimation jar!  This provides an opportunity to practice name recognition, writing, and letter recognition.

The puppet theater became quite elaborate today!  The children were working together as they performed.  They were saying such funny jokes and funny things in the puppet show; they are so creative!

During small group time the children chose words to write and practiced writing in their journals!

God made each child unique, and therefore success for each child is unique. We value all success in preschool!
Success for some children is writing using scribbles.
Success for some children is holding the pencil correctly to write.
Success for some children is writing letter-like forms.
Success for some children is writing the letters in the words correctly.
Success for some children is sounding out the word as they write the word.

During small group time we practiced matching upper and lower case letters.
Success in this activity for some children is recognizing the upper case letters.
Success for some children is matching the upper and lower case letters.
Success for some children is naming the sounds of the letters as they match the letters.

During morning meeting we read the book Purplicious by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann. One of the characters in the book mixes pink and blue to make purple.  Our friends wanted to try to make purple too!  We painted with the colors we mixed.

Whoo Hoo!  Praise God for te beautiful weather today!!

Our new early childhood wing is each day closer and closer to being done!

During Jesus time the children acted out the story of Zaccheaus.  The friend acting as Jesus was sure to tell Zaccheaus, "I still love you even though you made bad choices."  Jesus loves us no matter what!
